Shortsea & Rail
European governments are constantly looking for new sources of income. This is emphasized by for example the introduction and extension of toll roads. Often these are new methods to reduce the congestion. This last point and the raise in costs created the search for new alternative ways to transport goods from point A to point B. Two of the new modalities are shortsea and rail, but the development of these modalities is still in the early stages. The market gets more and more convinced of the positive contribution that shortsea and rail make to the environment. Our experience tells us that the market is flexible with regards to lead times as the price often gives reason to change the processes.
Transvenlo is located at the most strategic location with regards to logistics within Europe. Our head office is located directly at the rail terminal. The rail terminal gives maritime rail transport direct access to the main ports Rotterdam, Antwerp and Amsterdam. Multiple trains per day and at least three times a week a shortsea ship take care of the connections between the tri-modal terminal in Venlo and the various deep sea terminals, rail terminals and shortsea terminals.
The shortsea terminal is located at a 5 minutes distance from our head office. Due to the road network which is connected perfectly with the shortsea terminal and the possibility to store containers temporarily at this location, all that is needed to provide matching logistic solutions is present.
